South Ogden Justice Court Information

The South Ogden Justice Court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor charges at the class C and class B level that take place inside the borders of South Ogden, Utah. Felony and class A offenses must be heard in the Ogden District Court. But most lower-level misdemeanor charges can be handled through the justice court.

Consequences of a misdemeanor conviction in the South Ogden Justice Court can be serious. A class B misdemeanor carries potential penalties including 180 days in the Weber County Jail and fines of nearly $2000 (including surcharge). A conviction for a class C misdmeanor is punishable by up to 90 days in jail and more than $1400 in fines (including surcharge). Additional consequences can include the loss of a driver license, loss of the right to carry a firearm, and a variety of probation conditions that may be imposed by the court.

It may be tempting to treat a justice court misdemeanor case lightly. But a conviction can have lasting consequences. Consultation with an experienced criminal defense attorney is strongly advised.
